Becoming an established professional camera assistant is your first step to a career on big budget, prestigious productions.
Although staff jobs are available in TV the vast majority of film crew are freelance. This section of the course discusses how to establish yourself as a successful freelancer and what pitfalls to avoid, going freelance in the Film and TV industry, the business of being Freelance, booking agencies, advantages of being Freelance and the key things to avoid when going freelance.
Camera Operation (PRATICAL):
Each student will be given practical camera instruction on the Sony Digibeta professional broadcast TV Camera.
Chris Weaver has been training camera crews over the 30 years.
His extensive experience and guidance has started numerous careers, and many of his students are now fully established, filming all over the world for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and FIVE as well as producing their own Independent work.
Chris’s varied career as a film cameraman has seen him work on high profile documentaries such as Panorama, Horizon, Top Gear and Newsnight. He has worked as Director of Photography on numerous music videos, 35mm Feature Films, Commercials and BAFTA winning TV programmes. Chris has filmed all over the World from the Oval Office of the White House to The Middle East and Afghan warzones. Luxury car commercials for Bentley and Mercedes, to the Land Rover Camel Trophy in the Amazon rainforest of South America.
With a career spanning over 30 years in the Film and TV industry, Chris has worked with numerous distinguished professionals including Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Oliver Reed, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Rachel Stevens, Richard Branson, Neil Armstrong, Princess Diana, President Reagan and Muhammad Ali.
